What is Document Delivery?
If you are a VSU student taking all your courses at an off-campus site or online AND you live outside Lowndes County, you have the special privilege of requesting books and journal articles through our Document Delivery Service. You can request that the books you find through the Odum Library Online Catalog or through the WorldCat Database, as well as the non-full-text article you find in GALILEO, be sent directly to you.
How Do I Request Document Delivery Service?
Electronic request are made using the Interlibrary Loan ILLiad system. Access is available by left clicking on the ILL--Odum Express link located under the Main Menu from the Odum Library home webpage. Follow the log-in instructions. If this is your first time using ILLiad you will be required to register. When completing the registration form be sure to select Mail-Distance Ed Delivery for both Article Delivery Method & Book and Loan Delivery Method questions. If you have already used ILLiad and you want to update your delivery method complete the following:
- log-in to ILLiad
- scroll down to the Review Personal Information section
- select the Change User Information button
- Select Mail-Distance Ed Delivery for both Article Delivery Method & Book and Loan Delivery Method questions
- Left Click on Submit Information button
How Long Does Document Delivery Take?
Document Delivery may take 5 to 14 business days, depending on the item requested; the item will be mailed directly to you. All photocopies of journal article will be yours to keep. All books need to be shipped back to Odum Library by the due date indicated on the band.
How Much Does Document Delivery Cost?
Most photocopies of journal articles are supplied at no cost; however, some materials such as dissertations, may require a fee. You are also responsible for the postage required to ship books back to Odum Library.
Can I Have ERIC Documents Delivered?
Odum Library is not able to supply copies of ERIC Documents through Document Delivery. The ERIC (at EBSCOHost) Database provides full-text access to many ERIC Documents from 1996 to the present. You can also visit the ERIC Education Resources Information Center. Both ERIC (at EBSCOHost) and the ERIC Education Resources Information Center databases are available via GALILEO.
