Academic Video Support

For upload to CommuniCoach, the goal is to prepare your video in WMV file format, 320x240. Three main methods are described below. You are strongly advised to use the first, the webcam/PC/MovieMaker approach. If there is a PC in the classroom with a webcam, you should have the equipment you need. If there is no webcam, many camcorders have the feature with the necessary cables to be used as a webcam. If such a video camera is not available, there are several webcams available at fairly low cost. Some recommendations:

  • Microsoft Lifecam VX-5000
  • Logitech Quickcam Connect

If there is no PC in the classroom or it is not in a good location, use a laptop. If you don’t have a laptop, perhaps you can check one out from a school resource center or borrow one from a colleague or friend. Keep in mind that you may have to move some furniture around to set up the laptop and webcam for the appropriate field of view.
