Netlibrary - Searching for electronic books

NetLibrary offers electronic versions of many print books that are available at Odum Library. These electronic books are available from both on-campus and off-campus. In order to view NetLibrary books from off-campus, you must set up an account.

Setting Up a User Account

Before you search for netLibrary books, you need to set up a NetLibrary account, which allows you to read entire books online, make notes, bookmark parts of the text, and more. Complete the following to set up an account:

From on campus:

Left click on GALILEO tab from the library's homepage, http://www.valdosta.edu/library/index.shtml
Locate NetLibrary under the Databases A-Z tab and left click on NetLibrary
Select Create a Free Account (located top upper right hand corner)
Complete the registration form and left click on Create Account

From off-campus:

Left click on Anywhere Access from the library's homepage, http://www.valdosta.edu/library/index.shtml
Log in using your BlazeNet username & password
Left click on GALILEO
Locate NetLibrary under the Databases A-Z tab and left click on NetLibrary
Select Create a Free Account (located top upper right hand corner)
Complete the registration form and left click on Create Account

Searching VSU's GIL Catalog for Electronic Books

Access from on campus:

Left click on the GIL Catalog from the library's homepage, http://www.valdosta.edu/library/index.shtml

Access from off-campus:

Left click on Anywhere Access from the library's homepage, http://www.valdosta.edu/library/index.shtml
Log in using your BlazeNet username & password
Left click on GIL Catalog

Begin your Search:

Left click on Exact Search
In the search box, type in your topic. (Important: Put quotes around phrases: "classroom management")
In the Search in: menu next to the search box, click on Command.
In the Set Quick Limit to: menu below the search box, scroll down and click on netLibrary Books
Left click on the Search button

Reading an Electronic Book

From the results list, left click on the title of the book you want to read. Let's look #2:

Detailed catalog record for the electronic book Classroom management [electronic resource]: sound theory and effective practice

Scroll down and click on E-Resource: An electronic book accessible through GALILEO; click here
