For this example we will locate articles related to a topic in education.

  • The GALILEO homepage appears as follows:

  • Left click on Education

  • Left click on Education from the available drop down list

  • Type search terms in section 1. For example, learning AND mathematics AND academic achievement

 

  • Refine your search in section 2. Place a check mark in the box before Full-text search and Peer reviewed. You can also limit your search to a specific time frame, such as 2000 to 2008

  • Select your databases in Section 3. Make sure this is a check mark in the box before each database you would like to be searched

 

  • Left click on the Search 6 Databases button

Choose databases

  • A list of results will appear on the left side of the screen. Each database that was searched will be listed with the number of hits that appeared in the database.

 

  • Left click on Academic Search Complete to view the results page for this database (this is what you should do in order to look at the available articles in this database based on the keywords entered in the search area).

  • Left click on View to read the article abstract

 

  • Left click on View PDF to read full-text and print the article
