Georgia's Virtual Library - GALILEO@VSU is a collection of more than 250 journal, magazine, and newspaper electronic databases covering many subject areas. When searching within GALILEO@VSU sources, the
button often appears in results lists.
When the Find It button is selected, the Find It Services window displays all the options you have in locating the full text of the article, as maybe available online, in print on library shelves, or through interlibrary loan services via your ILL – Odum Express ILLiad account logon. See the Find It Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more information and also Getting Your Hands on the Articles (flow chart) for additional help.
GALILEO@VSU with Find It Windows Layout - One, Two, Three!
Three windows are shown below.
- GALILEO@VSU Source Window: This is the database you start the search in. In the following example, the database is Biological Abstracts
A search in the database provides you with a citation for an article. If you select the Find It button, the Services Window appears. - GALILEO Find It Services Window: This window contains a menu of links that are library service options. These services include links to the full text as available online and a link to check the GIL@VSU Library Catalog for local print holdings. When the full text isn't available online, the ILL – Odum Express ILLiad account logon link will be present.
- GALILEO Target Window: In this example, the user requests the online full text of the citation as available from the ProQuest Research Library. The Target window then displays the full text version of the article as corresponding to the original citation.
In some instances, the full text of the citation will not be available online. In these cases, an option will be available on the GALILEO Find It Services Window to request the material through Valdosta State University's InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Service. Simply click the link marked ILL - Odum Express ILLiad Logon Account and the relevant information will be entered into the form automatically as shown in the below example.
