And the Winner is…

The winner of Master of the Delta is….

Ron Cross!

Ron, please come by the Reference Desk to pick up your new book. You have until October 2 at 10:00 PM to collect your winnings, if it is not picked up by then we’ll have to draw a new winner.

Thank you to everyone who commented! You have given me, and other readers, some titles to add to my reading list. It is good to know there is student interest in poetry readings and citation workshops, I know we have some librarians interested in both of those.

Lauren Slater

In Love Works Like This: Moving from One Kind of Life to Another, psychologist Lauren Slater writes about coping simultaneously with bipolar disorder and her first pregnancy.

Also recommended: Slater’s accounts of her work in psychology (Welcome to My Country) and her own successful treatment (Prozac Diary), and her (possibly fictional) memoir of growing up with epilepsy (Lying).

No Sweat Science

The No Sweat Projects series of kid-friendly projects for young scientists– aged 9-12– includes Hairy Science (“All you need is hair!), Bouncing Science (”All you need is a ball!”), and Shadowy Science (”All you need is a shadow!”).

New Computers in GALILEO

New GALILEO Computers

Odum Library is in the process of upgrading all computers in the GALILEO area, which will provide patrons with access to faster and more up-to-date machines to research, create, format, and print projects.  In case you were wondering, this is your student technology fee in action.  While we are upgrading, the GALILEO area will be temporarily closed to patrons, but full computing and printing access is still available in the computer labs located in the first floor internet cafe, second floor room 2633, and third floor room 3250.  We appreciate your patience and believe that the new technology will be well worth the brief wait.
