Friday Feedback: Facilities?

With the library’s addition a few years under our belt, we’re interested to know what you think of the place!  Let us know what you love about the physical library, and what you think needs touching up!

  1. I think that the facilities are fine, but there need to be ENFORCED areas for quiet study. When a lab monitor is playing on the computer while people yell across the room and talk loudly on their cell phones in the “quiet” areas, especially the third floor “quiet” computer lab, there’s a problem.

  2. Hi MG! This is an email I received from the head of Automation in response to passing along your comment:
    ___________

    Library Automation Action Steps

    1. The Lab Monitor Coordinator has already distributed an e-mail to the BlazeNet Library monitor group sharing the blog post with explicit instructions that one of the monitor’s duties is to “…to make sure that the noise
level in the labs is appropriate to the particular lab…”

    2. Get in the Zone signs emphasizing the 3rd floor is designated as Quiet (blue) will be created and posted in the 3rd floor lab on the bulletin board and entrance doors.

    3. Once the “Get in the Zone” signs are posted in the 3rd floor lab, a reminder about the lab monitor’s responsibilities in ensuring an appropriate study environment will be distributed. The idea being that perhaps in reminding students to be quiet, the monitor can direct their attention to the new signs.
