Cataloging: GHP Call Numbers

Arrangement Within Disciplines

In some GHP subject areas materials are accessioned but also arranged roughly by sub-topic.  In other subject areas, materials are arranged alphabetically by main entry (although this arrangement is seldom consistent).  Try to identify an established arrangement and follow it as closely as possible.

Gaps have been left in accession number sequences to allow for additions to the collection; however, unused and available accession numbers may be difficult to identify without going to the shelf. Our shelf list for GHP materials is incomplete and therefore inadequate for determining whether an accession number has already been used; also, a call number search in the online catalog may not retrieve a complete list of used accession numbers.

Follow established practice for series, sets, etc.

The collection is haphazardly arranged and breakdowns shown below are approximate.
