Electronic Collection
Some 58,000 e-books and 70,000 online periodicals are accessible through the Library's web site and thus close to 23% of the collection holdings are available as electronic full text. GALILEO is the primary link to over 250 electronic databases, indexes, and abstracts. The Library's GALILEO databases are available only to currently enrolled Valdosta State University students, and employed faculty and staff. Electronic holdings can be accessed 24X7 by students and faculty from on campus offices and classrooms and are just accessible off campus from home or elsewhere through the Anywhere Access link. While the standard format is PDF (Portable Document Format), some of the electronic resources require the installation of a custom reader that is provided by the vendor. Vtext is Valdosta State University's digital repository of scholarly texts and research. Below is list of links to these major electronic collections:

To access GALILEO, simply visit the Library's web site from any on campus computer. Accessing the Library's databases from off campus is easy. You'll need your BlazeNet campus User name and password for Anywhere Access. Once you've accessed GALILEO via BlazeNet, WebCT Vista or through logging in with the off campus password, "Get GALILEO password", simply go to the library research databases as you would on campus. When it's necessary, you will be automatically queried for your BlazeNet User name and password. |
