LeaderQuest
LeaderQuest is made up of three components: Emerging Leaders Program, Existing Leaders Program, and Experienced Leaders Program. Each program is designed to give students an opportunity to become involved in leadership opportunities appropriate to correspond with their collegiate experience.
LeaderQuest’s Mission:
- Increase students’ awareness of their leadership abilities and potential.
- Assist students to serve and lead on campus and in the community.
- Introduce students to experienced campus and community leaders.
- Encourage a lifelong commitment to practicing leadership and service.
Emerging Leaders Program is designed to encourage and develop incoming freshman student leaders into future existing and experienced leaders on campus. This group will participate in an academic class, ongoing activities throughout their freshman year and attend an exciting and fun retreat in August. Upon a two-semester completion of this program, students will advance into the Existing Leader program. Applications are available on line and mailed to each incoming freshman along with orientation information. Openings are limited, so apply early. A small fee is also required.
Existing Leaders Program is designed to continue the leadership skills and knowledge gained as an Emerging Leader. Student teams will develop and lead in campus, service and community projects. This group will also assist and facilitate sessions for the Emerging Leaders Program inside and outside of the classroom. Selection is each Spring term and is open to all VSU students with a minimum 2.5 GPA; faculty or staff recommendation are a few of the requirements for selection. Application date TBA.
Experienced Leaders Program is the advanced component of the LeaderQuest program. This group will assist and advise, as well as plan and coordinate activities such as awards and recognition, banquets and guest speakers for the Emerging and Existing Leader groups utilizing invaluable leadership skills obtained from their experience as a participant in LeaderQuest.
