Dr. Donna J. Cunningham

Associate Professor of Management

CunninghamDonna J. Cunningham received her Juris Doctor degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, in 1981, and began practicing as one of the first women lawyers in the Chicago area to go into law practice in any significant numbers. Her clients included small closely-held businesses and the wholly owned U.S. subsidiaries of German, Austrian and Swiss conglomerates. 

After practicing business law for 20 years, she joined the VSU faculty in 2002, and earned tenure in 2007.  Courses taught include the (Legal) Environment of Business, Business Law, Employment Law, Leadership Skills, International Business and  International Human Resources Management. Research interests include business and constitutional law issues. Dr. Cunningham has taught in the European Council’s Study Abroad program, and currently serves as Chair of the Study Abroad Scholarship Committee. International students are frequently invited to speak with her students.

Dr. Cunningham is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Beta Gamma Sigma.   She also recently served as President of her condominium association, and has served as president or vice-president of similar associations twice before.  She has become an advocate of the need for re-establishing a sense of community in such self-governed associations, and this is another research interest.
