Dr. Len Weld
Head and Professor of Accounting
Dr. Weld received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma. He worked in the restaurant division of Ralston Purina for several years before attending Texas State University to earn an MBA. After completing the MBA, he worked for a local CPA firm. Dr. Weld left public accounting to earn a Ph.D. in accounting at Texas A&M University. He taught at Auburn University for seven years and served as the Chairman of the Department of Accounting & Finance at both the University of Texas at Tyler and later Troy State University. July 1st, 2002, Dr. Weld became the Head of the Department of Accounting & Finance at VSU.
Dr. Weld’s research interests are in tax and financial accounting. He has published over sixty articles on various topics. He is particularly interested in environmental cleanup and capitalization issues.
