Accounting principles Honors Luncheon - spring 2008
On March 5, 2008, the accounting faculty gathered to honor the best Accounting Principles students from the previous year. The luncheon was sponsored by the Georgia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation and Valdosta Chapter, Packaging Corporation of America, Park Avenue Bank, Draffin & Tucker, LLP of Albany, Moore Stephens Tiller of Brunswick, and Mauldin & Jenkins of Albany. Ms. June Paschal of Mauldin & Jenkins and Mr. Jeff Wright of Draffin & Tucker each presented a $1,000 scholarship check to Mr. William Curry and Ms. Anne Christian
The purpose of the luncheon was twofold. First, the faculty wanted to let these students know how much we appreciate their hard work in the Principles of Accounting classes. All of these students earned a grade of A or B in their class. Second, we wanted to inform the students about the accounting profession. The guest speakers pictured and others, explained their particular facet of the accounting profession. Speakers were a combination of recent graduates and long-time professionals. Speakers represented both public accounting and industry. Each speaker provided insights into the accounting profession and valuable advice to the students. Below are some pictures from the luncheon
Each student received an Honors Day t-shirt upon registration and drawings were held for $850 worth of Colonial Mall gift certificates. The value of the certificates ranged from $25 to $100.
