Dr. William Buchanan
Associate Professor of Finance
My tenure at Valdosta State University began in August 1998 and I currently hold the rank of Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance. Recently the Finance Faculty have been working to provide students a Trading Lab for securities to further their experience and open additional job opportunities. After over 20 years of experience in Higher Education I am thrilled to still find the classroom challenging and rewarding and the collaborative efforts with my collegues here at VSU very stimulating.

My research interests focus on Corporate Finance issues and Derivative Securities as vehicles for risk management. I teach Corporate Finance at three levels and the Special Issues class, which examines the Derivative Securities Markets. I have been awarded the Quality Research Award for 1999 and 2000 and anticipate receiving it again this year.
I have conducted local seminars on Mutual Fund investment, Economics and Banking and the Expectations of a College Education.
My outside interests include golf, horses, flying and motorcycles however, my three teenage sons are keeping me busy with athletic events, keeping cars running and grocery shopping.
