Dr. Clifford A. Lipscomb, who joined the faculty in 2005, is the Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) and an Assistant Professor of Economics. Dr. Lipscomb has an undergraduate degree in economics and sociology from Berry College (1998) and a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology (2003). Most recently, Dr. Lipscomb worked as a Research Economist for the Regional Economic Analysis Division, Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Department of Commerce, in Washington, DC. In his current work at VSU, Dr. Lipscomb teaches managerial economics, math for economists, sustainability, and principles of microeconomics. He has published 6 refereed articles, 2 refereed contributions to books on spatial processes, and editorials in the Washington Post and Valdosta Daily Times. Dr. Lipscomb also is responsible for the quarterly Cost-of-Living Index for Valdosta, which allows a comparison of the cost to live in Valdosta to other metropolitan areas in the U.S. He also is the Book Review Editor for the Review of Regional Studies. Outside of economics, Dr. Lipscomb is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the non-profit The Teal Sound, Inc. of Florida, and a judge for the United States Scholastic Band Association, the Florida Federation of Color Guards, and the Atlantic Indoor Association. Dr. Lipscomb also coordinates all of marching percussion activities for the VSU Blazin’ Brigade, which includes student recruitment, writing the percussion music for the halftime shows at VSU football games, and instructing the drumline. |

Taylor Monroe is a graduate assistant and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree (2010). Taylor has an undergraduate degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Auburn University (2006). Prior to moving to Valdosta, GA, Taylor worked as a Project Procurement Advisor with ExxonMobil Global Services Company in Houston, TX. Additionally, she has worked as a research assistant with Auburn University and as an intern with both ExxonMobil and Milliken & Company. |
