  • if financial aid is not complete at time of registration students are responsible for payment and can be reimbursed by financial aid if eligible.

    Students should know how much money they qualify for and will be awarded for the academic year before registering for courses. It is important that students read and understand their obligations before using financial aid.

About Dropping and Withdrawing from Kings Bay classes;
  • Dropping a course can be completed on the student banner web account only during the first week of class, generally Monday - generally Thursday by 11:59 p.m. ** Check VSU calendar for dates!!
  • Withdrawals must be completed via your student banner web account until Mid-Term (Week 4). Please check with advisors to make sure that you are within the proper time frame and if your financial aid will be affected by your decision to withdraw or drop a class. It is different from main campus' withdrawal deadline so make sure that you know the correct date for Kings Bay.

    New Withdrawal Policy

    LIMIT ON COURSE WITHDRAWALS (5 “W” POLICY) For undergraduate students only

    Effective Fall 2010, all undergraduate students are limited to five course withdrawal (“W”) grades for their entire enrollment at Valdosta State University. Once a student has accumulated five “W” grades, all subsequent withdrawals (whether initiated by the student in BANNER or initiated by the instructor on the proof roll) will be recorded as “WF.” The grade of “WF” is calculated as an “F” for GPA purposes.

    The limit on withdrawals does not apply if a student withdraws from all classes in a given semester before the mid-term point of the semester. The following types of withdrawals do not count against the limit of five course withdrawal (“W”) grades:

    • Hardship withdrawals
    • Medical or mental health withdrawals
    • Military withdrawals
    • Grades of “WF”
    • Withdrawals taken in semesters before Fall Semester 2010
    • Withdrawals taken at other institutions

    Transfer students, regardless of their classification upon enrolling at Valdosta State University, are also limited to five withdrawals at Valdosta State University.

IMPORTANT: New and Returning Students using Financial Aid;
  • Financial Aid paperwork should be submitted 4 weeks prior to registration at the beginning of each semester. Remember, during the summer 2012 you must complete the 2010-2011 financial aid forms if you plan to attend Fall 2012 - Summer 2013 semester.

In Case of Emergency - Base Access and Weather Updates

If classes are canceled we will attempt to post information on the web page as quickly as possible or listen to KBay 106 the local radio station.

  • INCLEMENT WEATHER:
    • If there is inclement weather such as an afternoon storm, classes will be held unless the base closes the gate.
    • Tropical Storm Watch / Warning & Hurricane warning / watches will be at the decision of the base and local emergency management to determine if classes will be held or not.
  • BASE CLOSURE: (Periodically the base will close the gate for training.)
    • Check both gates, if you arrive at the gate at 5:30 or later, then you will be considered absent from your class. Classes start at 5:30, getting through the gate is comparable to driving through peak traffic times.
    • It would be to your benefit to check back at each gate to see if the gates have reopened and will allow you to access.
  • REMEMBER, GIVE YOURSELF AMPLE TIME TO ARRIVE PROMPTLY TO YOUR CLASS.

(This immediate update may not be available for classes meeting on Saturday).
