Appeals Process
Students and organizations have the right to appeal a
Disciplinary Committee recommendation in accordance with
the following procedures:
A. The accused shall appeal in writing to the President of the
University or his designee within five days after receiving
the decision of the committee. The President shall within
five days appoint an appeals committee composed of
three members of the faculty of the University or shall
utilize the services of an appropriate existing committee.
This committee shall review all the hearing materials and
make their report to the President. After consideration of
the appeals committee’s report, the President shall within
five days render a final decision so far as the institution is
concerned.
B. A student and or organization shall clearly state their
grounds for an appeal in a written statement to the
President.
C. The President will be given a copy of the tape recording
and a packet containing copies of all the information
used in the original hearing by the Disciplinary
Committee. If a verbatim transcript has been made, it will
be made available to the President for consideration.
D. When the President of the University has rendered his or
her decision in writing on any appeal, the student and or
organization has exhausted their appeal at the university
level.
E. Should the student and or organization seek an appeal
of the decision of the President, they have the right to
appeal in writing to the Board of Regents. The appeal
to the Board of Regents is submitted in writing to the
Board’s Executive Secretary within twenty days after the
Presidential appeal decision, and the appeal shall cite all
the reasons for appealing the previous decision.
