FTP Clients
Many software packages provide the ability to transfer files from your computer to another program via a protocol named FTP. This is perhaps the most common of methods for placing files from a computer to a web server.
Secure FTP
- Secure Shell This suite of products includes an SSH client (like telnet) and an SFTP client. Passwords and commands are encrypted before being sent to the server. Use profiles to set remote starting directories. Recommended by VSU IT.
- Putty Another suite of products which encrypts transmissions.
- Cyberduck A free client for Mac OS X that supports both Secure and Normal FTP. Recommended by VSU IT.
Normal FTP
- WS FTP This FTP program is typically installed in VSU computer labs and on office computers. Very easy to use. Use profiles to set remote starting directories.
- CoffeeCup Free FTP Very popular free FTP program.
- SmartFTP Use profiles to set remote starting directories.
