What username and password should I use?
At the computer, use your Blazenet username and a four (4) to eight (8) digit numeric "password" when prompted by the pop-up driver. This will help to identify your print job at the printer.
What do I do if I send multiple print jobs to the printer during one session?
For multiple print jobs sent to the printer during one session, use the same username and password for each job sent to the printer. This allows you to relase all your jobs at the same time.
How do I release my print job?
When you go to the printer to release your print job, please check to see if the "Done" button is lit up. If it is, you will want to press it once to turn off the red LED before selecting your job for release.
What if I do not see my print job listed on the display?
If you do not see your print job listed on the display you will need to refresh the display by the following means:
- Press the "All" button located in the upper left hand corner of the Printer's display. You should now see your print job on the display, or
- Press one of the buttons to the left of the display above or below the "printer" button, then press the printer button. You should now see your job on the display, or
- On some models you will see an option to release locked print jobs after you press the "print" button. Select this option and now you should see your print job on the display.
What do I do if I receive an "unassigned privilege" error?
This error indicates that your student ID has not been associated with the printer privilege. You can remedy this by reporting this to the HelpDesk at 229-245-HELP (4357) or submitting an online request to add your ID to the print privilege at the following website:
http://www.valdosta.edu/it/forms/
What do I do if I receive a CardRead error?
This error indicates that the magnetic strip on your card is unreadable. Please contact One Card Services for information on replacing your ID:
http://services.valdosta.edu/1card/, or
1204 N. Patterson St.
Phone: 229-259-2593
How do I ensure I receive the copies I sent to the printer?
When a print job is initiated from the computer, the user provides a username and password for the job. When the user goes to the printer he/she will select the job by name, enter the appropriate password, and then swipe his/her ID card to authenticate in order for the printing to complete.
Yes, duplex printing is a supported feature on the multi-function printers (MFP). Each lab or area defines whether duplex printing will be the default setting on the MFP.
How was the student print credit determined?
Reports were generated from print usage data collected during the Spring of 2008. These reports showed that the average number of prints per student was 160. Based on the current print rates, a $12.50 allotment would provide the student with a total of 250 b/w prints.
What happens if I use up my entire print credit?
When a student uses the entire print quota, printing charges will be deducted from student’s Flex account balance. A print job will not print unless the student has a sufficient amount on the Flex account to pay for printing.
How do I find out the balance of my print credit?
In order to check your print credit balance, you can swipe your VSU 1Card at any of the Ricoh MFP printers. Please note that the initial displayed balance on the card reader will be the combined total of your print credit and Flex account balance. Once your print job has printed out, the cost of the print job and only the remaining print credit balance will be displayed.
Is there a way to increase my print credit to meet the needs of my academics?
To increase your print allocation, you will need to add a balance to your Flex account either through the 1Card Office or online through their website.
Can I use my print credit as I would Flex?
No, the print credit is issued specifically as a print credit and cannot be applied to Flex purchases. However, Flex funds can be used to purchase printing.
Can I redeem my print credit for money?
No, the print credit is not redeemable for cash.
Will different majors have different print allocations?
No, every student will have the same print allocation credit.
How much is charged for Student printing?
Current print rates are listed below:
b/w 8-1/2 X 11 single sided printing: $0.05
color 8-1/2 X 11 single sided printing: $0.25 (not available in all locations)
b/w 11 X 17 single sided printing: $0.20 (only available in Media Services)
color 11 X 17 single sided printing: $1.00 (only available in Media Services)
* duplexing * cost for each print option above will be double the rate
Why am I being charged to print?
VSU has instituted print management to recover a portion of the cost of providing printing to students caused by waste and excessive printing in the computer labs. Although we will not be charging for standard B/W prints for FY2008, a per copy charge will eventually be imposed on printing beyond an assigned allotment which only assists in paying for ongoing maintenance and supplies for these printers. Next academic year, after data has been collected, a pre-paid allotment will be provided to each student and charges will go into effect only after these are exhausted.
How will the credit be displayed on my 1Card?
The sum of the $12.50 credit for your Flex balance will be displayed on the card reader.
Will I ever be charged for another students print job?
No, print jobs require three credential components to execute: username for the current job, password for the current job, and card-swipe. Only when these three are used would a student be charge. Charges will only be inacted after a student exhausts their print allotment. After an idle time, which will be defaulted to one (1) hour, but can be adjusted for different labs, the job will be deleted from the printer.
Can someone else print using my account?
It is important for a student to press the “Done” key on the card reader after he or she finishes printing. Otherwise, it is conceivable that others could bill subsequent prints or copies to their account.
Will I get a refund if someone else billed prints or copies to my account?
No, it is the responsibility of each student to log out of the printer correctly using the “Done” key on the card reader.
Does unused print credit roll over to the next semester?
No, unused print quota balances will be cleared from the student's account one week after the semester ends. These balances do not roll over to the next semester.
Will I be charged for classroom session printing?
No, only printing done outside the classroom will require students to swipe their 1Card resulting in a charge against the students’ account.
Where are the color and b/w printers located?
To find out where the printers are located on campus, please view the Printer location page.
Where can I make copies using my 1Card?
Copying is available in the Library, the Food Court and the Student Success Center.
What are my alternatives to printing?
It is often possible to email results to yourself for printing elsewhere, or to copy them to a USB key or CD.
How do I add money to my 1Card?
You can visit the One Card website http://services.valdosta.edu/1card/ for instructions on how to add money to your account or contact their office at 229-259-2593.
Do print jobs stay in the queue until I pay for them?
Print jobs will be held for three (3) hours in the queue and then they will be deleted.
What happens if I make a mistake? Will I be charged? How do I cancel a print job?
There is no need to cancel a print job; if you do not release it, it will be deleted in 3 hours. You are not charged for a print job until it comes out of the printer.
Money will not be refunded, nor will funds be credited to a 1Card. Any and all problems should be reported immediately for possible print job replacement, the only available option.

NOTE: Selecting File > Print from the menu at the top of the browser will probably NOT give you the results you desire in this situation.
I printed a document, but it is not listed at the Release Station, where is it?
If your document does not appear, then it is probably listed off the screen. Touch the "Next" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the touch screen and your print job should appear.
NOTE: Documents are listed in alphabetical order by username at the printer touch screen.
Why do visitors have to purchase a guest printing card in order to print?
Visitors to campus are not subject to student technology fees, and therefore are not eligible for a print allocation. However, guest printing cards are available either from Media Services or the second floor Circulation Desk located in the library.
Why is there a $1.00 processing charge on the guest printing cards?
The one dollar processing charge covers the physical guest card itself as well as the administrative services required to support these cards.
