All classes will be held in the Pine Hall Computer Lab unless otherwise noted. Seating is limited to 15 in the Pine Hall Computer Lab.

Online software training
Valdosta State University now offers Online Software Training! Thousands of online tutorials provide quick answers to all your software questions. Some of the tutorials available to you include:
- Computer Basics
- Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint 2003 and 2007
- Access 2003 (Access 2007 available 2nd quarter 2009)
- Word 2004 (for Mac)
- Windows XP and Vista
Click HERE to self register for the tutorials you wish to complete and begin using this valuable resource! If you have not registered, select the Create Account button. Enter your first name, last name, VSU email address (including @valdosta.edu) and enter your password twice. Then select the Register button.

Are you responsible for maintaining your Departments web pages, but have not learned how to use the Contribute software? Or maybe you have just started using Contribute and would like some additional guidance. Then this class is for you!
Training Highlights include :
- How to install Contribute on your computer
- Connecting to Contribute and begin editing pages
- Reviewing new web page standards and guidelines
- How to navigate
- Create a new page
- Edit a page
- Add an image
- Add a table
- Create links
- Send a page for review (Writers and/or Publishers)
- Publish a page (Publishers)
This class is NOT intended for those who will be updating personal web page's.

Expression Web is Microsoft's replacement package for FrontPage for web site design. At VSU Expression Web is used to create faculty/staff personal web pages. Expression Web cannot be used to edit any VSU departmental web pages - only Contribute can be used. Topics covered include:
- Introduce Expression Web and HTML concepts
- Discuss Expression Web window and task panes
- Identify the url format for faculty/staff personal web pages
- Create, edit and save a personal web site and web pages
- Preview web pages in browser
- Format web pages
- Create, edit and remove hyperlinks and bookmarks
- Insert and edit images
- Publish personal web page

Jive Instant Messaging System -
New to VSU is the Jive Instant Messaging System. Along with the standard chat features Jive can be used as an in/out board for your department. Other features include file transfer to staff/faculty/students and conferencing. If you want to learn all the capabilities of Jive, then attend this class. Specific topics include:
- Installation, login and logout
- Preferences
- Chat
- Add VSU and non-VSU contacts as well as renaming a contact
- Change profile, picture and status
- Look up profiles
- Create and delete custom status messages
- Set up a new conference as well as join an existing conference
- Broadcast a message
- Send a file and view files sent to you
- Share your desktop
- Notes and Tasks, and more!!

Microsoft Office 2007 Orientation Session -
The Microsoft Office 2007 Orientation Sessions, made available for Faculty and Staff since April, 2007, will now be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Please contact Kathy Sundin at 333-7395 to set up a session.
The session covers how the software packages in the Office 2007 Suite have changed. Session highlights include:
- What is the Ribbon?
- How commands are organized
- Where did the File menu go?
- Keyboard Shortcuts
- New File Formats
- Overview of New/Improved Features
- And Much More
The Office 2007 PowerPoint Presentation and Handouts are available for review by any faculty/staff member, or student. All materials developed by Information Technology may be reproduced by any faculty/staff member or student.

PeopleSoft Financials - Expenses Module -
If you need assistance in filling out an Expense Report or Flexible Spending Account Reimbursement, open One-on-One Sessions for faculty/staff are available. No formal presentation will be given - just stop by anytime during the two hour timeslot. No registration is required.

Have you ever wanted to lock out student computers in a computer lab from surfing the Internet during instruction, take control of a student's machine or share your screen with your students? If so, this is a must class for you.
Vision Software is used to:
- manage student computer use
- share your screen with the class during instruction
- take control of students machines to help with a problem
- lock/unlock student computers entirely
- lock/unlock Internet surfing from student computers
- start a program on student computers
- chat with a student
- send files to student machines
- wake up and power down student computers
