joe newton, director of information technology receives recognition from the USG Administrative committee on information technology
For the past year, Joe Newton has chaired the Administrative Committee on Information Technology (ACIT) for the University System of Georgia. On April 23, 2009, during their regular Wimba meeting Joe was presented with a plaque thanking him for his year of service by Dr. Barbara White, chair-elect. The primary purpose of ACIT is to concern itself with the policies and procedures that affect information technology within the University System.
These include but are not limited to the areas of electronic communication networks, computing hardware, administrative information systems, academic information systems, and other computing activities. ACIT serves as an advisory body to the Vice Chancellor for Information Technology.
The plaque Joe received reads: Presented to Joe Newton for outstanding leadership as Chair for the 2008-2009 Administrative Committee for Information Technology (ACIT) in support of the University System of Georgia, and for dedication to service and collegiality in moving the role of Information Technology forward within the Higher Education System of Georgia.
