MEDICAL INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
All non-immigrant international students (F-1, J-1) are required by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents to have accident and sickness insurance while attending Valdosta State University. The Comprehensive Student & Scholar Accident and Sickness Insurance offered by HTH Worldwide is mandatory for all the F-1 and J-1 students and scholars. This policy is intended for your protection and will cover all illnesses not treatable by the VSU student health center, hospitalization, emergency medical evacuation, and repatriation of remains. For more details please consult the Comprehensive Student & Scholar Accident and Sickness Insurance brochure.
Students who are sponsored by organizations such as the Department of State and ISEP are exempt from this requirement.
Enrollment in the VSU HTH Health Insurance Plan is automatic, and the cost of the insurance policy will be included in the tuition and fee bill upon registration for classes each semester. The fall insurance premium appears on the fall semester bill; the premiums for spring and summer coverage are combined on the spring semester bill. Once a student pays the insurance fees to the Bursary, they are automatically enrolled in the HTH insurance plan each semester. For Fall semester the insurance fee is $315.00 and students will receive insurance coverage from August 10 to January 10. The fee for Spring semester is $441.00 and students will have insurance coverage from January 10 to August 10. Health Insurance cards can be picked up at the Center for International Programs two weeks after the beginning of each semester.
