CONTACTING THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVISOR
The Center for International Programs is open Monday through Thursday 8:00 am 5:30 pm and on Fridays 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Who is your advisor?
F-1 students with questions about F-1 immigration regulations, employment (OPT/CPT), travel, change of status, admission and transfer to VSU, international student scholarships, health insurance, obtaining social security number, enrollment verification, international student activities and programs are advised by Ms. Irina McClellan.
J-1 exchange students and scholars are advised by Mr. David Starling.
How do I contact my advisor?
There are a number of ways for you to contact an advisor at the Center for International Programs.
Telephone Calls and E-mail
An advisor will be available to take phone calls between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Telephone calls are a good way to get straight-forward general information, but you may be referred to come back for an appointment if your situation is more complicated. Questions may also be e-mailed to Irina McClellan and David Starling.
Walk-In Advising
International Students may see Ms. Irina McClellan for a 15 minute time slot on a first-come, first serve basis during the following office hours:

| Wednesday | 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. |
| Friday | 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. or by Appointment |
These times are for students with routine inquiries and requests. No Walk-ins on Thursdays unless prior arrangements have been made. Please make an appointment by phone 333-7410 or e-mail ibmcclel@valdosta.edu

Advisor appointments
Individual appointments are scheduled at various times between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. You should call the Center for International Programs at (229) 333-7410 to schedule an appointment. You will be asked for some information on the reason for the appointment. This will allow us to give you an idea of the documents you may need to bring and it will help the advisor to prepare for your visit if necessary. If you are uncomfortable in giving your reason for the visit then you do not have to share this information. You may also contact your advisor, Mrs. Irina McClellan or Mr. David Starling, to schedule an appointment.
