Governance

The University Honors Program is a unit of the VSU College of Arts and Sciences.

The Honors Advisory Council meets once per semester at the Honors House. It is comprised of current Honors faculty, the Honors Program director, and Honors program students. Issues concerning the organization are discussed at these meetings.

Members of the Student Honors Advisory Council represent the interests and concerns of honors students and make recommendations to the Honors Advisory Council, Honors Program Director, and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. They also represent the Honors Program to students in their colleges and to prospective students.

Honors Program Director

Dr. Ofelia Nikolova, (ornikolova@valdosta.edu) Associate Professor of French, has served as the Program Director of the University Honors Program since Fall semester 2006.

Department Secretary

Mrs. Jane S. Robinson (ajrobins@valdosta.edu) serves the the Honors Program in a critical role as departmental secretary. She handles all office business and enjoys assisting all students.

Graduate Assistant

Jessica Dickerson (jbdickerson@valdosta.edu) joined the staff Fall 2009. She works closely with Dr. Nikolova to assist each student through the program. Jessica is also responsible for updating the Honors Program Website and assisting with the production of the Honora.

Student Assistants

Lani Hollingsworth, an honors student, has been with the program since Fall 2007. She is a part of the work study program and loves her job! She is also involved in the debate team.

Yvonne Garcia, a senior majoring in psychology and philosophy, has been with the honors program since Spring 2008. She is a part of the work study program and loves her job! She is also a member of the psychology club and philosophy & religious studies club.
