Activities

The Honors Program participates and sponsors a variety of activities throughout the year. It offers special honor seminars with an interdisciplinary focus. These explore a wide range of interesting, controversial, and timely issues. These seminars can satisfy elective credit in a variety of major degree programs. Honors Fora is a series of discussions and lectures led by faculty, visiting scholars, and distinguished members of the community. The University Honors Program also sponsors the Honors Student Association. The Honors Program is affiliated with the National Collegiate Honors Council, the Southern Regional Honors Council, and the Georgia Collegiate Honors Council. These affiliations afford wide opportunity for travel to academic conventions and conferences.

Typically, the Honors Program holds and/or participates in the following events during the academic year: The Happening, Fall Honors Convocation, HSA monthly meetings, University Homecoming events, Publishing the The Honora, Habitat for Humanity community service, William Bartram Award, National Collegiate Honors Council conference, Southern Regional Honors Council conference, Georgia Collegiate Honors Council conference, Spring Honors retreat, Honors Program New Student Orientation, Visitation Day, VSU Honors Day, and the Spring Honors Recognition Ceremony. Please check with the Honors Program office for specific times, dates, and places. Additional lectures, socials, and educational opportunities will be held and announced throughout the year.
