Burning CD Using the Windows XP CD Burning Wizard

Step 1

Insert a blank CD in the cd-rom burner.

Step 2

In the window that appears, select the Open writeable CD folder option in the list.

Click the OK button.

Step 3

Locate the files on your computer that you wish to burn to the CD.

Step 4 - Copying the files: Method 1

Right click on the file that you want to copy to the CD. In the menu that appears, select the Send To option. Then select the CD Drive in the sub-menu.

Step 5 - Copying the files: Method 2

Drag the files that you want to copy into the blank space in the CD Writeable folder window.

Step 6

In the window that opened in Step 2, you should see the files waiting to be written to the CD.

Note: if you have closed this windo, you can open it again by opening My Computer and double-clicking on the CD drive (usually drive D:).

Step 7

Click on the item labeled Write these files to CD in the task pane shown in the left hand side of the window.

Step 8

In the CD Writing Wizard, fill in the CD name field with the text you want to label the cd.

Note: the CD name cannot be longer than 16 characters.

Step 9

Click the Next button.

Step 10

A progress window will be displayed showing the status of the cd burning operation.

Step 11

Upon successful completion, you will see the window shown below. Click the Finish button.
