Installing the Compatiblity Pack for Office 2004 on Mac OS

Step 1:

Go to the Compatibility Pack download site.

Step 2:

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Additional Tools link.

Click Additional Tools

Step 3:

Then, click the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0 link that appears.

Step 4:

Use the scroll bar in the details window to scroll down to the bottom.

Step 5:

Click on the link for English (.dmg) that appears.

Click English (.dmg)

Step 6:

Click the Save File button.

Click Save File

Step 7:

Click the Open link.

Click Open

Step 8:

Drag the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.mpkg icon to your desktop. Then, double-click the icon.

Step 9:

The installation process will begin. Click the Continue button.

Step 10:

Click the Continue button.

Click Continue

Step 11:

Then, click the Continue button.

Click Continue

Step 12:

Click the Continue button again.

Click Continue

Step 13:

To review the license information, click the Read License button. Once you have reviewed the license information, click the Agree button.

Step 14:

Select your hard drive that Microsoft Office 2004 is installed on.

Then, click the Continue button.

Click Continue

Step 16:

Click the Install button.

Click Install

Step 17:

Enter your administrator username and password. Then, click the OK button.

Click the Close button.

Step 19:

If you wish to convert a single file, double-click the Office 2007 or Office 2008 file you wish to open in Office 2004.

Then, mark the checkbox in front of Don't show this message again. Finally, click the OK button.

Step 20:

If you wish to convert multiple files, launch one of the Office 2004 components (ex. Microsoft Word 2004). This will launch the Open XML Converter as well. Click the Convert Many Files button. Then, drag each file into the center window of the converter.

When the conversion process is complete, you will receive a Conversion successful message at the bottom of the converter. The converted versions of the files will be saved in the same location as the original documents.
