Creating a Snapshot
While we recommend using the VMWare Fusion AutoProtect feature in order to make timed backups of your virtual machine, you can also create a snapshot yourself. We recommend that you do so after significant changes have been made to your system, such as updating software or removing viruses and spyware.
Step 1:
Click on the VMware Fusion icon in the dock.

If the VMware Fusion icon is not in the dock, click on the Finder icon in the dock.

Then, click Applications in the left sidebar.
Finally, double-click the VMware Fusion icon in the right window.

Step 2:
Click the Take Snapshot button on the top left hand corner.

Step 3:
In the Name field, add a descriptive name. Likewise, use the Notes field for additional information and reminders to yourself.
ex. 1
Name: Disinfected 06-04-09
Notes: This snapshot was created after IT removed viruses and spyware from the computer.
ex. 2
Name: Firefox Upgrade 06-04-09
Notes: This snapshot was created after I upgraded Firefox to version 2.0.0.20.
Finally, click the Take Snapshot button. The snapshot creation process will begin. Please be patient as this process may take some time. During this time, the virtual machine may appear to be slow or unresponsive.
