Take a Screenshot

Step 1

When you are ready to take a screenshot, hold down both the Apple and Shift keys on your keyboard.

Step 2

While continuing to hold the keys, press the number 3 on the keyboard.

Step 3

An icon for the picture will appear on your desktop. It should end with .PNG.

Step 4

Double-click the picture's icon to open it.

Step 5

This will open Preview. Once in Preview, use the cursor to select the area that you need. Then click on the Tools option in the toolbar menu at the top of the screen. Select Crop. This will remove excess portions of the picture, leaving you with only the area you marked.
