Checking for Updates in Mac OS
Step 1
Click on the blue apple icon in the top-most left-hand corner of the screen. Select the Software Update option.

Step 2
Mac OS will automatically begin searching for any available updates.

Step 3
Once Mac OS has completed its search, a list of available updates will appear. Make sure that the updates you wish to install are selected and that a checkmark is placed in the box next to the desired updates. Then click the Install button at the bottom of the window.
Step 4
Mac OS will ask you to verify your name in order to install the updates. type your name in the Name box.
Step 5
Next, type your Mac OS password in the password space.

Step 6
Should any of the updates require you to agree to a License Agreement, click the "Agree" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
Step 7
Mac OS will now install the updates. Some updates may prompt you to restart your computer. Simply restart your computer and your update installation will be complete.
