Jive

Jive is Valdosta State University's instant messanger service. It is available to all students, faculty, and staff on a number of platforms including Windows, MacOS, and Linux. There is also a web client available for use in public locations.

Jive Alternatives

While we generally recommend using the Jive client, there are a few cases that require the use of alternative clients as either:

  • In rare cases, employees must run specialized software in order to fulfill their work responsibilities that could cause conflict with the Jive client.
  • Clients who are attempting to access the Jive service from a device other than a computer.

Walkthroughs - Pidgin

In the case of clients who cannot run Jive due to work-required software, we suggest Pidgin as an alternative.
