Changing your FTP Password
If the Helpdesk has set an initial temporary password for your FTP account, you can then log in to be able to change it.
Step 1:
Double-click the SSH Secure Shell Client icon.
Note: Make sure you are using the SSH Secure Shell Client (gray icon), rather than the SSH Secure File Transfer Client (yellow icon).
Step 2:
Click the Quick Connect button.

Step 3:
Enter www.valdosta.edu in the Host Name field.
Then, enter your FTP username in the User Name field.
Finally, click the Connect button.

Step 4:
Click the OK button.

Step 4:
Enter your FTP password in the Password field.
Then, click the OK button.

Step 5:
Type passwd.
Then, press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Step 6:
Type your current FTP password. Please note that nothing will be displayed when you do.
Then, press Enter on your keyboard.

Step 7:
Type your new FTP password. Please note that nothing will be displayed when you do.
Then, press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Note: Passwords must follow the criteria listed below:
- Passwords must be at least 9 characters in length.
- Passwords must contain at least one number.
- Passwords must contain at least one lower-case letter.
- Passwords must contain at least one upper-case letter.

Step 8:
Re-type your new password. Please note that nothing will be displayed when you do.
Then, press Enter on your keyboard.

Step 9:
You should receive a confirmation saying:
passwd: password succesfully changed for <your FTP username>

Congratulations! You have successfully changed your FTP password.
