Connecting Netscape Messenger to the BlazeNet E-Mail Directory server

Step 1

Open Netscape.

Select Address Book from the Window menu.

Step 2

Select LDAP Directory... from the New sub-menu of the File menu in the Address Book window.

Step 3

On the General tab in the Directory Server Properties window, fill in the fields as shown below:

Name: BlazeNet Directory
Hostname: blazenet.valdosta.edu
Base DN: ou=People, o=valdosta.edu, o=cp
Port number: 389
Bind DN: uid=username, ou=People, o=valdosta.edu, o=cp

Note: replace username in the field labeled Bind DN with your BlazeNet username.

Step 4

Click on the Advanced tab. Change the value in the field labeled Don't return more than to read 1000.

Click the OK button.

Step 5

To search the BlazeNet Directory, highlight the name in the list on the left of the Address Book window.

Step 6

In the field labeled Name or Email contains, type the last name of the user you wish to locate the address for.

In the dialog box that appears, enter your BlazeNet password and click the OK button.

Note: to keep Netscape from asking for your password each time you do a search, click the checkbox next to Use Password Manager to remember this password.

Step 7

The list of search results will show up in the columnar field display beneath the search field.

Step 8

To send an e-mail message to that person, highlight the name you are looking for.

Then click the Compose button in the toolbar.
