Setting up your VSU E-mail on Android OS Devices
 

Step 1:

Click the arrow on the slide-out tray on the right side of the desktop.

Step 2:

Click the Email icon.

Click Email

Step 3:

Click the Next button.

Click Next

Step 4:

Enter your Blazenet e-mail address in the top field.

Then, enter your Blazenet password in the second field.

Finally, click the Manual Setup button.

Step 5:

Click the IMAP account button.

Select IMAP

Step 6:

Enter your Blazenet username in the Username field. Be sure you DO NOT include the @valdosta.edu following your username.

Then, verify that your Blazenet password is listed in the Password field.

Next, enter imap.valdosta.edu in the IMAP server field.

Finally, click the Next button.

Step 7:

Enter smtp.valdosta.edu in the SMTP server field if you wish to send e-mail ONLY while connected to the campus wireless network, Hallnet.

Off-campus Users: Due to security concerns, mail from non-VSU domains will not be accepted. You must consult with your ISP's documentation and/or tech support in using the SMTP server from your ISP. If email is already configured for your ISP email account, then use that SMTP server for your VSU email account. Here is a page with some local SMTP servers as examples.

If you are using smtp.valdosta.edu as your outgoing server, uncheck the checkbox in front of Require sign-in.

Otherwise, this setting will vary depending on your internet service provider.

Finally, click the Next button.

Step 8:

Use the drop-down menu shown under Email checking frequency to set how frequently you wish to have your phone check for new mail.

Mark the checkbox in front of Send email from this account by default if this is the primary email account you are setting up for this phone.

Mark the checkbox in front of Notify me when email arrives if you wish to have an audible notification of new email.

Finally, click the Next button.

Modify Other Settings Based on Your Need

Step 9:

Enter VSU Email in the Give this account a name (optional) field.

Then, enter your full name in the Your name (displayed on outgoing messages) field.

Finally, click the Done button.

Step 10:

Once you have set up your account, repeat Step 1 and Step 2 of this guide and you should see a list of your email folders as pictured below.

Congratulations!

You have successfully configured your Android OS device to check your VSU e-mail account.
