How to change your PIN to a Password in Banner

NOTE: On Feb. 15, 2006 Banner Web will be changed from a 6 digit PIN to an 8 character password. All Banner PINs will be expired which will force the user to change his/her PIN to an alpha-numeric password. User passwords will then expire at least every 180 days thereafter.

Step 1

From the VSU Homepage click on the Registration & Advising link or Banner link.

Step 2

Click on the Login link.

Step 3

Enter your VSU ID in the text field labeled USER ID. Enter your CURRENT PIN in the text field labeled PIN. Then click the button labeled Login.

Step 4

A Banner warning page will appear stating that "Your PIN has expired. Please change it now." You will now need to enter your Old (current) numeric PIN number and a New alpha-numeric password.

New password requirements will consist of 8 characters.
Passwords be composed of letters and numbers only with no special characters allowed at this time.
Banner Web passwords will expire every 180 days from the date of last change.
  1. Enter your current numeric PIN number.
  2. Enter your new alpha-numeric password.
  3. Enter your new alpha-numeric password again.

Click on the Login link.

Step 5

After changing your PIN to a Password a warning message will appear: "A break in attempt has been detected! Please login again." This is not a correct warning statement and your information is safe. You can ignore this warning only after changing your PIN to a Password.

Step 6

Your Banner PIN has now been changed to a 8 character alpha-numeric password. You will be asked to change your new Banner Password every 180 days.
It is recommended that you setup your Banner security question now for lost passwords.
