Anti-Virus and Spyware

Viruses and Spyware are the most common problems with Operating Systems and Software today. This section covers tutorials on how to operate, update, and scan with the most common Anti-Virus and Spyware software used by the VSU IT department.

AVG Free Edition

Trendmicro Internet Security

  • Note #1: The campus license for Trendmicro Internet Security will expire as of January 2009. At that point, we recommended replacing it with AVG Free Edition. For details concerning this change, please click the AVG Frequently Asked Questions link above.
  • Note #2: Please be sure to uninstall all older versions of PC-cillin and Trendmicro Internet Security prior to installing Trendmicro Internet Security 2008. Otherwise, it will install properly, but the subscription will be expired and non-functional.
  • Note #3: Trendmicro has reported that there is a conflict between Trendmicro Internet Security 2008 and Spybot - Search and Destroy. If you have immunized your system with Spybot, please ensure that you have de-immunized it before installing Trendmicro Internet Security 2008. Otherwise, this can cause system slowness issues. If you need assistance in verifying that your system has been properly de-immunized, please contact the VSU IT Helpdesk at (229)-245-4357.
