Master of Library & Information Science
The mission of the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Program, accredited by the American Library Association, is to provide a quality publicly supported education for generalists and specialists in the library and information science fields. Its primary focus is to educate librarians for academic, public, and special libraries in Georgia. The 39-hour non-thesis program combines brief periods of face-to-face instruction with Internet instruction and distance education. The program is designed for students who cannot leave jobs and families to return to a single campus for extended periods. Face-to-face classes will be held in various locations based upon geographic convenience for the class. New students begin in the fall or spring semesters. MLIS 7000, Foundations of Library and Information Science, offered every fall and spring, is prerequisite or corequisite to many other MLIS courses.
