Leadership
The Performance-Based Specialist degree offers candidates the opportunity to continue to develop their knowledge and skills through an advanced and more specialized content designed specifically to address the candidate’s leadership role and career goals. The candidate must hold a master’s degree from an accredited or PSC approved college or university and be certified in educational leadership (L5 or NL5). NL certification can be obtained by posting a passing score on the GACE Leadership exam. The candidate must also submit an assurance form from a local school system identifying the candidate as serving in a leadership role as defined by the PSC and supporting the performance based residency requirements. Examples include, but are not limited to; team leader, grade chair, department chair, SACS team chair, academic coach, school improvement team leader, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, curriculum coordinator, or special education director. The program requirements include 12 hours of content knowledge and skills and 18 hours of advanced performance-based work in real settings.
