French Majors When not creating movie scenes for this year's Foreign Language Cabaret and designing a room for Cultural Trading Spaces, the French majors spent their class time engaged in a wide variety of instructional activities “toujours en Français,” always in French. Together the class explored the idea of heroism, but each major also had the opportunity to introduce topics for discussion and activities to learn. French majors have discussed serious topics such as immigration, global warming, the Alaskan Pipeline, Cuba and the differences between life in France and America. Some students have also instructed the class in Bachata music (a Central American genre), American Sign Language, the art of bonsai, how to play “Le Roi Grenouille” (aka King Frog) and much more. In addition to these smaller presentations, French majors were responsible for an in-depth research project on an aspect of the Francophone world. If all this wasn’t enough, students still had the opportunity to sing many songs and watch a few really good French films. |
