Physics is the smallest of all the science areas, but it is by no means less interesting. Under the guidance of Mr. Moore, the physics majors and minors explored the world of robotics and electronics for six weeks.
The majors spent most of their time working on their cumulative project in groups of two or three. These projects utilized Boe-bots (a type of Parallax robot) as tools to conduct scientific research and develop programming skills. The robots were programmed using a language by the name of PBASIC, and were modified to suit the needs and goals of each groups.
They also spent time tinkering with circuitry (while observing the safety rules of electricity, of course!). The students were able to create simple and complex circuits using resistors, relays and switches, capacitors, diodes, and jumper wires.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHYSICS MAJOR..............
8:00 Arrive in class after a hearty breakfast at the Old Gym. (Be on time! You're late if you arrive after Zac.)
8:00 - 9:00 - Listen to a lecture by Mr. Moore on circuitry and work on the goal he has given for the day.
9:00 - 10:15 - Work on Boe-Bot projects.
10:15 - it varies, depending on our laziness - Break! Most physics majors walk together to the Union to grab a snack or check mail.
10:30 - 11:55 - Continue working on Boe-Bot projects.
11:55 - 12:00 - Stare anxiously at the clock, waiting for lunchtime.
