Governors Honors Residential Life

Dormitories

GHP Students stay in one of three dormitories depending on their dorm assignment.

Langdale

This is the main hall where many activities take place. It houses a lobby with ping-pong tables, comfortable chairs and couches, tables, and a mezzanine for watching movies or TV shows with fellow GHPers. Langdale also has a large Laundromat and The Night Owl, which is a small store with your basic needs - groceries. This dormitory reaches five stories, making it the tallest of the three halls. Because it has five stories, it has two elevators, which can only be used by the girls. The stairs are for the guys to use, but because of a constant problem with the elevators breaking down, the girls can now use the stairs. In each of the Langdale rooms there are the following furnishings: 2 beds, 8 drawers, 2 desks with shelves and chairs, 2 external closets, and a single sink with a large counter.

Georgia

Georgia is the second tallest dormitory, but it does not have elevators for its three floors. Both guys and girls can stay on this hall and can use the stairs as they please, but they follow the same rules as far as keeping the genders on their own floors. It has a slightly smaller lobby than Langdale (but, it has some ping-pong tables), and also has a TV room beside the lobby. The Laundromat is significantly smaller than the one in Langdale, but it helps to cut down on the constant overcrowding in Langdale's Laundromat. Each of the rooms has the following: 2 beds, 2 closets, and 2 desks with shelves and chairs.

Reade

This dormitory is the smallest of the three, having only two stories and no lobby. There also is no Laundromat, meaning anyone in Reade will have to use the laundromats in either Langdale or Georgia. Usually, Reade houses only guys, but this year it was different -- guys on first floor and gals on second floor. In each of the rooms, there are: 2 beds, 2 dressers, 2 closets, 1 two-sided desk, and a sink.
