The life of a percussion major is one of the busiest experienced here on campus. Their day like the rest of the music majors, starts 15 minutes later to factor in the extra walking time. After arriving at the fine arts building, they head to their respective theory/enrichment classes. At 9:15 class begins. They rigorously practice their techniques and parts and simply expand their knowledge of the percussion field. Depending on the day, an orchestra or wind ensemble rehearsal might be in order. At 12:15, lunch break comes as do minor classes and the freedom and relaxation of the rest of the day.
After eating a superb lunch and resting their minds a bit from hours of hard work in their major classes, the percussion minors storm the fine arts building. Ready to learn, the minors at hard at work in an instant. Unlike the percussion majors, the minors do not split their time with large ensemble rehearsals but instead can focus on strictly percussion ensemble music. From 1:30 to 4:00 on every Monday through Friday, these students perfect every aspect of percussion playing. Their hard work and unceasing efforts finally culminate in one large recital which features all the music minors.
