A typical day in brass major consists of starting with music theory class or a chosen elective at 8:15 AM. Master class begins after the electives or theory classes with a warm-up. After that the class looks at whatever brass ensemble music that Mr. Cumiskey has assigned . At 11:00 all orchestra members go down to the auditorium to play with the orchestra that is conducted by Mr. Czarkowski, the strings teacher. He rehearses the music that is to be played at the next performance. Everyone is then free to go to lunch at 12:15 after rehearsal has concluded.
As brass minors, the students try to make playing their instruments more enjoyable through the mastery. They have times in which they listen to different pieces of music and practice music as individuals and as a group to help refine their skills. They also work towards their culminating event, the Minor Recital. This is after the students have already had a grueling morning in their major.
