Getting In

The process of getting into the Counseling Minor started the first week of GHP. The counselors hold an orientation for the students.

Projects

The counseling minors do not create a culminating project that is open to the GHP community. Instead, the students are charged with thoroughly evaluating themselves and producing an Altered Book of Self. Students evaluate their emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, and future self for this project. Many students appreciate the fact that the project is not open to other GHP students, because it removes any sense of work stress from the class (though at GHP, such feelings are rare.)

Typical Day

The counseling minor at GHP allows students to explore the complexity and nature of relationships, personalities, and themselves. The students are encouraged to self-analyze and to be aware of both themselves and their respective situations. By the end of the six-week course, the students should be able to act effectively as an aware, insightful observer of relationships and personalities.
