Communicative Arts

Communicative Arts Majors

Communicative Arts majors are exposed to a variety of both well-read and more obscure authors. As Mr. Bailey astutely put it, "GHP is all about beginnings." Following this line of thought, our teachers have introduced us to a spectrum of subjects over six weeks in order to simply expose us to themes, ideas, and works that most high school classes just can't get to.

Though each course lasts only six days (packed with reading, discussion, and hands-on projects), we step away with more knowledge, a sense of accomplishment, and in most cases some interest in something we were completely unfamiliar with. Sometimes, we may enter a class with a preconceived idea; these ideas were quickly dispelled as our teachers introduced new criticisms and new ways to look at a piece.

Communicative Arts Minors

Minors allow GHP students (from other major study areas) the opportunity to engage in a "mini Comm. Arts major", taking similarly designed courses aimed at the majors, but ramped down a bit to allow for a broad spectrum of literary experiences and related discussion.
