Meet Gini S. Bland - The GHP 2006 Biotechnology Aggie Teacher
An 8th grade science teacher away from GHP, Mrs. Bland has a Masters Degree and is a National Board Certified Teacher. At GHP this year, she is teaching both agricultural science and biotechnology. By using a hands- on approach, Mrs. Bland had her students research an area in biotechnology in order to improve or change an existing product. According to Mrs. Bland, teaching at GHP is the utopia of teaching. Mrs. Bland believes in the ideas that 1) the whole situation in any scenario should be observed and 2) everyone should be brave and try out new things. If she could not be an Aggie at GHP, Mrs. Bland would come to GHP for communications since one of her dual majors is in communications.
In terms of personal life, Mrs. Bland is proud to have three kids who she hopes to see at GHP in the future. She has many cats and dogs, and also enjoys kayaking and making stained glass. In terms of food, she enjoys all types but especially loves to eat key lime pie. She also loves to read detective mysteries and watch romantic comedies. And, of course, she enjoys country music.
Meet Janet Darlene Forrest - The GHP 2006 Environmental Aggie Teacher
Ms. Forrest, a graduate student at UGA, is currently working on her Masters Degree in forest resources. This year at GHP, she is focusing on the environmental science part of agricultural science. Just like Mrs. Bland, she uses a hands-on approach while teaching in order to copy real-life situations. The culminating project that she had her students do was an individual research project that was displayed in the 2006 Ag Challenge. Ms. Forrest enjoys teaching GHP because it is fun, and even would choose agricultural science as her major if she were a student today. Although she is annoyed when people do not do what they are supposed to be doing, she follows the Golden Rule every day.
Personally, Ms. Forrest loves her wonderful, supporting family. She does, however, miss her pets. Sometimes Ms. Forrest goes by Jan as her nickname. In terms of preference, she enjoys home cooked food, Southern movies, and country music.
