NAME: Atlanta Chapter of Swedish Women's Educational Association (SWEA)

DESCRIPTION: The primary purpose of SWEA is to "Operate a charitable and educational origination for the preservation and promotion of Swedish culture, history, art, literature and sciences in countries outside Sweden through awards and scholarships". In order to fulfill its purpose and to further the professional interests of its members, SWEA Atlanta also conducts  manner meetings and organizers seminars and special events on a regular basis, in addition to awarding the aforementioned annual scholarship. 

Criteria:

The scholarship will be awarded to a well-merited woman studying the Swedish language, literature, culture, traditions, art, music, design or environmental issues.  The scholarship may also be awarded to a female non-student contributing to a of the topics listed above.

Be a female at least 24 years old who has been a Georgia resident for at least one year. NAME: Louise McBee Scholarship

DESCRIPTION:

Purpose: To support educational enrichment for women exhibiting leadership potential in a higher education field.

Scholarship Eligibility/Criteria: Applicant must be a woman.   Applicant must be either:

A graduate student (the scholarship is not intended for undergraduate students) pursing a degree in an institution of higher education (two-year, four-year, public or private) or currently employed in a Georgia institution of higher (college, university, technical institution, two-year, four-year public or private) who seeks professional development opportunities in an administrative or teaching capacity. Applicant must indicate need for the scholarship, for example, applicant must have financial need to continue formal graduate studies or absence of institutional support for professional development. Applicant must be academically in good standing if holding student status (3.0 cumulative GPA). Applicant must submit application form by deadline. Applicant must submit two letters of reference in support of scholarship applicant, at least one of which must be from present employer of faculty member.

NAME: The New Work For Professional and Executives Scholarship Program

DESCRIPTION: The recipient must indicate a need to continue her education in order to advance professionally.

The recipient's expressed need for continuing education must be in line with clear, sincere and attainable career goals.

The recipient shall be required to enroll for a minimum of 10 per quarter in three of four consecutive quarters of six hours per semester in two of three semesters. 

The recipient must have achieved a minimum 2.75 GPA or equivalent B average for prior academic work.  This minimum average must be maintained for the duration of scholarship payments.  To assure compliance, the recipient must furnish the Network Treasurer with documentation of her average promptly after the end of each quarter or semester for which the average is not maintained.

The recipient must be and intend to remain a permanent resident of Columbus or of the Chattahoochee Valley area, but may attend any College or University.

The recipient must demonstrate leadership in civic, social and professional service to the community.

Applicants' eligible for Final Application Review (defined below) shall participate in a personal interview by the selection panel. 

Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation one of which may be from a Network member.
