DESCRIPTION: The USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships program will award renewable scholarships to students with financial need. Scholarships will be targeted to students who, in addition to demonstrating financial need, are members of an ethnic-minority group or are physically disabled. Students must maintain a 2.5 gpa on a 4.0 scale.

NAME: Backpacker - The Magazine of Wilderness Travel
DESCRIPTION: Backpacker Magazine's outdoor scholarship program is designed to honor students who have displayed initiative in improving or protecting the outdoors and the environment by taking a leadership role in outdoor activities and encouraging other to do the same.
Scholarships available in three categories:
Outdoor Leadership: available to students who have made an effort to bring others into the outdoors through a variety of leadership initiatives.
Environmental Leadership: for students who have actively participated in efforts to improve the environment.
Outdoor Writing Scholarship: for students who have made an effort to convey information about the outdoors to the public through writing.
Eligibility: Any fulltime undergraduate student attending a four year college is eligible to apply for the scholarship. The student must maintain a "B" (3.0) average or better and must be a junior or senior the year the scholarship is used. A student of any major may apply. Students may apply for more than one scholarship; but can only be awarded one.
Requirements: To apply for the scholarships, each student must submit the following: - double spaced, typewritten answers to all three essays (three essays should be submitted for each individual scholarship applied for. - the must current college transcript available. - two letters of recommendation from people not related to the student who know the student's outdoor/environmental related work.

NAME: The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Spouses Education Scholarship
DESCRIPTION: Any graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited institution of higher learning, or a full time undergraduate, graduate or doctoral student with a minimum 2.5/4.0 gpa is eligible to apply for these scholarships. All applicants must also provide a completed financial statement.

NAME: Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
DESCRIPTION: This scholarship is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education. This scholarship seeks to lower barriers to undergraduate study abroad by offering scholarships to students with financial need and encourages students underrepresented in study abroad to apply.
Eligibility requirements: - Must be a US citizen. Permanent residents are not eligible, - must by an undergraduate student in good standing at a US institution of higher education (including both 2 year and 4 year institutions, - must be currently receiving Federal PELL Grant funding at the time of application. NAME: Governor's Scholarship Program
DESCRIPTION: Selected by the Georgia Department of Education as a Georgia scholar or named valedictorian, salutatorian, or STAR student from an eligible Georgia high school. Must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate freshman at an eligible college in Georgia within seven calendar months following graduation from high school. Cannot be receiving non-repayable aid which totals more than the school's cost of attendance budget. Maintain satisfactory academic progress. NAME: John Gyles Education Awards
DESCRIPTION: The John Gyles Education Awards are available each year to students in both Canada and the US. They are the result of a private, benevolent endeavor established in 1990 with the help of a Canadian/American benefactor. Full Canadian or American citizenship is a requirement. Awards are available to both male and female students for all areas of post-secondary study. A minimum gpa of 2.7 is required. NAME: The National Italian American Foundation
DESCRIPTION: The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) awards scholarships based on academic merit and is divided into two groups of students:
Category I - Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. Area of study: open.
Category II - Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.

NAME: The Police Corps
DESCRIPTION: The Police Corps was created to help address violent crime by increasing the number of officers with advanced education and training who are assigned to community patrol. The central component of the Police Corps is the provision of financial assistance to participating police departments and sheriff's offices. A second component offers no-obligation college scholarships to children of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. If a local, state or Federal law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty after he or she joins the Police Corps, his or her dependent children may be eligible for college scholarships. To be considered "dependent" at the time of the parent's death, the student must be under 21 or be receiving more than one half of his/her financial support from his/her parents.

NAME: Search of Excellence Scholarship Program
DESCRIPTION: Applicants must be sophomore, junior or senior college students enrolled in good standing with a nationally accredited institution of higher learning. At the time of application they student must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) at their current college or university, and have an officially verified cumulative gpa of 3.0 or higher.
Recipients are selected annually by the Search for Excellence Scholarship Committee of the Delta Epsilon Iota National Scholarship Fund. Criteria for consideration include outstanding academic achievement, active involvement in campus and community activities and recommendations of character demonstrating the attributes of Dedication, Enthusiasm, and Initiative.

NAME: MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund Army Emergency Relief
DESCRIPTION: The MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund administered by AER is a secondary mission to help Army families with the costs of post secondary undergraduate level education, vocational training, and preparation for acceptance by service academics for their dependent children. Applicants must be dependent children, stepchildren or legally adopted children of Army soldiers on active duty, retired or deceased while on active duty or after retirement. Must be registered in the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS).
Applicants must be enrolled, accepted or pending acceptance as fulltime dependent students for the entire academic year in post secondary educational institutions accredited by the US Department of Education. Applicants must maintain at least a cumulative 2.0 gpa on a 4.0 scale for funds to be awarded or disbursed.
