Walking To Your Summer Vacation
A Centennial Walking Club Event
to view the Contest Walker's weekly progress.
The Contest
This is the first of a yearly
competition
where Walkers will be challenged to walk a given number of miles in a set amount of time. These miles are always the same as the distance from Valdosta to the grand prize's destination.
So you will literally be walking to your Summer Vacation.
This year walkers will be walking 231 miles to Port Canaveral for a chance to win a cruise for two.
The Prizes
We are pleased to
announce
that this year we will have a grand prize of a
three day cruise for two leaving from port canaveral.*
In addition to this grand prize, there will be a party for all participants
who reach the goal
and many other prize drawings.
How to Win
All prizes, including the grand prize, will be given away via a drawing during
the Contest Completion party on April 29th..
To attend the party and get your name in the drawing, all you have to do is enter the contest
and Walk 231 miles between March 1st and April 25th.**
Registration
To register to enter the contest you must first be a member of the VSU Walking Club. Membership
in the walking club is free and you will
receive an official
pedometer for signing up when you submit your waiver.

Once you are a member of the walking club, you can enter the contest by paying your entry fee
and signing up at the Employee & Organizational Development office.
The entry fee is $8.00, which grants you entry into the contest and comes with a contest t-shirt.
You can pay your entry fee by bringing either cash or a check to the Employee and
Organizational Development Office located in the University Center, Rm. 3103 (Next to the UC Theatre).
Make checks payable to the "VSU Foundation" and put "Campus Wellness Program" on the memo line.
Contest Dates
The Walk to You Summer
Vacation
contest runs from March 1st, to April 25th.
The completion party and drawing will be held on April 29th.

*The actual prize is a non-refundable certificate redeemable for a three-day cruise for two. Dates, destinations, and cruise line are subject to change and availability. The winner will set up travel arrangements with Executive Travel of Valdosta. Blackout dates such as holidays may apply.
**Only miles walked between the dates given will be counted toward completion of the 231 miles required to be entered into the drawing. Only miles recorded in the Walkers Club database will be counted for this contest. Miles may be subject to verification. People who are unable to walk due to a certified medical disability may set up special fitness related alternative methods to complete drawing requirements. The Wellness Committee will determine this alternative method in conjunction with appropriate medical advisors.
