R.A.D.
Valdosta State University provides a self-defense class called R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense).
The R.A.D. program is not a traditional self-defense course. It fills a long standing void by enabling individuals to learn in several hours a set of cognitive and physical skills, which will be of benefit for years to come. The R.A.D. approach to personal safety combines a practical blend of threat avoidance strategies and real-world assault resistance tactics. The FREE course is twelve hours long, and is broken down into four three-hour class days.
If you are interested in signing up for a class, contact Student Recreation at (229) 333-5898. If you would like more information, call the Crime Prevention Office at (229) 245-6493. You can also e-mail Sergeant Maestas, at mrmaesta@valdosta.edu.
